Only if you have no other option. Ball - think Cinderella: something long and preferably floaty so it will move when you are dancing. A short dress just wouldn't have the same effect, and I think you'd feel under-dressed in it.

I wore a short dress to a Marine Corps Ball...it was prom style, very pretty.

If it's Ur style, then it's Ur style. You should wear what you want to wear as long as if you bend over , well you know and make sure it's not too tight cuz if it rips, you'll be the laughing stick and may have to transfer!

no because if it's a "ball" then it's formal...short dresses are for cocktail parties...
