Anywhere up to 200 hairs, and when your hair is long, that can look like a hell of a lot! Changes in hormones can increase or decrease the amount you shed. If something (like pregnancy) has decreased your normal shedding rate, you have a period after where your body catches up and sheds all the hairs that would normally have been shed during that time which can be very disconcerting, but is perfectly normal.
