The United States government has to tread carefully in order to gain fullest cooperation of Islamic countries and Islamic governments in the "War on Terror." The U.S. very much needs the assistance of governments like the Pakistani gov't, whether they're democratic or not. Actually, the U.S. isn't too enthusiastic about democracy in many countries. The people of Pakistan, for example, are so deeply Islamist that they would certainly elect a president that was more hostile to American interests than Mushararraf is. By the way, the United States government does not support terrorism in any open, coherent or continuous way - only by implication or by "association" (with the Saudi Arabia??).

Now you KNOW americans do not support dictators in other countries. Just look up the answers to the questions about Chavez on here. EVERYONE is tearing the people who asked the questions down because we americans don't support dictators. Surely you are mistaken. And remember we didn't suppor the Shaw of Iran, and we don't support the dictators in Chile and other countries.

If a dictatorship follows a US government is a "good" one, like Hussein was years ago.
