Well she's wrong either you or your grandmother should check the candy. The police has more things to do besides checking children candy. Some people have mentioned go to a hospital and ask if they can x-rayed the candy. I hope this helps you out.

No the police will not check candy. You can take to local hospitals to be xrayed but it is just as easy to look for suspicious candy (candy that looks like it is opened) and throw it away. Also, you can do the two bag system - did this with my sister and her friends when they were little. One bag was used for houses that we knew the people and the other bag was for houses where we didn't know the people so that the candy could be checked. We just take one bag with our girls because we don't know most of the people in our neighborhood.

Who knows. The truth is that only a few children have been poisoned by halloween candy in the last 40 years or so, and they were poisoned by relatives. Razors in apples is an urban legend.

That's a good idea and has merit, one idea you might consider is eliminating trick n treating all together. having a family dinner and desert day. Buying (oh my) bags of candy for the children just for halloween. Some people take on the spirit of halloween and act against the weak and vulnerable. Please be careful.

If you are that worried about it check around your community to see if anyone is offering free candy x-rays. Sometimes hospitals do it and sometimes private businesses that perform them, like doctors, will offer it.
