I made two 3' by 7' cages similar but way better than cavycages.com. I used a roll of 3' high galvanized garden fencing at $1.00 a foot instead of the hard to find and expensive 14" cubes that rust and have to be put together, and I made two extra bases to use as lids, which you need to keep out predatory cats. Works fantastic. I have one for my boys and one for the girls. And if you have clips on one corner of the cage, you can open it there and step inside and clean the entire cage out with a couple of dustpans in a couple of minutes. The base and top is corrugated plastic, called coroplast, and you can get it at a sign shop, or recycle some 4'by 8' election signs ;) for free. You fold up and tape the outer 6-8 inches and you have a 3' by 7' cage. Presto. You cut the fencing and it fits perfectly. :) Some clothes hanger wire will hold your bottles on the sides, and a large stainless dog bowl will hold the food. Excellent. Works great.

Coroplast for 2 sheets is 35.00 (or free) and the fencing for 21 feet to go around is about 21.00 to 25.00.

Hello, The best guinea pig cages are made out of cubes and coroplast. If you go to guineapigcages.com you can see what I am talking about. You can buy one from there or they also give you instructions on how to make one yourself. I bought my cubes from Target and coropast from a Signorama store. My guys love it. You can make all sizes and levels. Aquariums are not recommended for guinea pigs and most store bought cages are too small. Also check guinealynx.com it has great advice on care, feeding, health ,housing and all sorts of stuff guinea pig related. Hope this helps.

Make sure you use fine mesh for the bottom as there feet will get stuck in the bottom of the cage and they will break a leg.

Well, you could buy one, or you can use a large aquarium if you have one.
If you really want to make one from scratch, you will need some 2" by 2" lumber, some rat wire, and a heavy duty staple gun.

the best cages are cubes & coroplast. do not use a mesh flooring. it's very bad for their feet!

You can either buy one, or make one out of wood and chicken wire.
