illegal in most states. !
nothing wrong with the 4.6
302 is underpowered unless HIGHLY modified and the 4.6 has better high tech options available to do a LEGAL horsepower increase.
Why don't you just take a Mustang 4.6 or for that fact a Lincoln Dual overhead cam 4.6 or a 5.4 motor and drop that into your truck.
You will be better off and not nearly the Emission legal hassles that you are going to have by dropping in a early 302 Ford motor in your truck.
Unless you are building a TRACK only Race Truck, don't do that kind of a swap.

New Engine and Trans Mounts fitted to the engine and frame of
the truck and then there is the drive shaft which will have to be
Custom fitted.........by the way you did not mention if you have
a GM 302 or a Ford 302.......Then there is the problem of mounting your Alt, Pwr. Strg, A/c Compressor and the Fan Shroud etc.... no matter which engine you have!
