My college's GLBT club is considering hosting a student-run drag show at the Halloween Masquerade next month. It sounds like lots of fun, and I might want to participate. Only thing is, I'm a girl who has little idea of how to go about dressing in drag. I'm new to the whole queer "scene," so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what are some things a drag king would normally wear?

A formal dinner suit? A football jock strap and pads? Overalls? I don't know. You've got me stumped here. Good luck.

Yes, there are a lot of things you can do. You can email me and I would help. I am not a drag king, but I do know of a few. Its just like dressing in drag for a guy, but backwards.

It's not stupid if you are asking an honest question, okay? I did this once for a parade as a pre-teen of 11, yes, I said parade, I was dressed to look exactly like Abe Lincoln, here is what they did........
1. Hid my long hair under a very short cut wing.
2. Wrapped torn strips of cloth around me tight to hide my budding breasts.
3. Put a pair of children's socks in the front of the tight pants to make it look like I had a penis.
4. LOTS of make-up to give my face that smooth, shiny look most men have.
It worked and no one guessed a girl played our 16th President that day, it would be much harder to do today since my "budding breasts", only a B cup then, stopped growing at a size 42 D!

It's a big thing for women in the Pride Parade to dress like men. Some of them make really hot men too. Most add side burns and facial hair. Some get flat tops.
Have fun.

Honestly, since girls wear pants and "guy" clothes these days, it's not easy to dress drag for a girl. Maybe shop in the boys section, but I don't think it's possible for a girl to do drag anymore. it was easier when wearing pants was alarming for girls since all they wore were dresses. Good luck and have fun!

Yes usually females in drag wear a suit and tie, some even put on a fake mustache. I have seen the shows a couple of times at several nightclubs and they really are quite entertaining.

Not a stupid question at all sweetie. They're called drag kings, and you need something to "bind" your breasts (if you're smaller you can use something as simple as ace bandages), wigs to make your hair shorter, and stage makeup (or even simple eyeliner) for facial hair. The key is make sure you're comfortable and have fun!!!

well some of my friends do drag. they usually wear goatees and/or mustashes when they perform as well as sunglasses. just look at what a guy would wear when they go out to a club and dress like that.
