I am assuming you mean, for example, that the 2007 model year actually starts in the fall of 2006. Frankly, I have never heard exactly why this has been the tradition since the early days. I might speculate that the reason was due to some supply manufacturing cycle which historically mandated full auto production did not begin until late summer or early fall. Also, delivery of new model year vehicles in the dead of winter (if you started in January) may not have been good for sales. Remember that early auto production occurred almost exclusively in the upper Midwest.

It is all about the might Dollar. Every company is after it. It is a marketing tactic each company wants consumers to buy their cars so they offer it to them a little early. "Little" I test drove a 2007 model back in August. Go figure, I fell for it. These manufacturers entice you with cool new features and many people get bated. It has a lot to do with image also, wouldn't you want to outdo the Smiths for once, who live next door.

acctually anything built after july is next years model. the reason they let them out early is to start the marketing to know what production level to build them at . some cars sell faster ,so they have to make more of.
