I stopped going when I was 10. In some areas, they have a rule that if you are older than 12 you cannot go. If what you are wanting to do is dress up and walk around to people's houses, then talk to the parents of the younger kids in your area and offer to walk them from house to house and bring them home again (safely). I used to take my youngest sister and her friends trick or treating and the parents would stay at home handing out the candy.

Why do you have to have an age limit? I've known people in their 30s and 40s who have gone trick or treating and had a blast. What about the parents who go with their kids? Quite a few of them dress up. Do what makes you happy.

Go put on your best costume and have a great time. If someone remarks just reply that it's a fun evening and your still a kid at heart. My mom goes out every year with the grandchildren fully dressed up. As long as you are in full costume there is no harm, it's when you see teens without a costume and only a bag you don't want to give them anything.

I will give one piece of candy to anyone in a costume. Keep going til you get tired of it. I just don't like it when people don't wear a costume.

I know this is mean, but I base it on the height of the kid. If the kid is taller than me, (5'4"), then they're too old. Sorry. :(
