Nope. My faith in our economy continues to dwindle off into nothing. I believe that if the republicans are voted into office, the prices will be back up in no time at all. If it were up to them, there would be no such thing as a middle class.

Yeah right, the Republicans can change the gasoline prices just like that. Get serious. There are real reasons for the price drop. Certainly supply is one of them. It's taken this long to fully recover from Katrina, the 18 different summer blends (which hurts efficiency / production) is coming off. The fact is, we are just one natural disaster or terrorist attack away from prices jumping right back up or more.
As far as the elections go, just as it really isn't fair to blame the current Administration about high gas prices, it's not fair to give them benefit when they go down. But that's the reality of it. People don't normally dig into what the real causes are when things go bad or good.

I doubt that George Bush, Tony Blair, Ben Bernanke, and the Pope, all in a dark conspiracy together, could miraculously and simultaneously drop gasoline prices at the pump to two bucks a gallon and raise the Dow Industrial Average to historic new highs.
But, since all the liberals on this site claim it's a conspiracy and aren't going to change their votes anyway, why should the Republicans even bother with this alleged price-fixing farce?
Do you think it might really just be supply and demand, and a robust economy?

I'm actually a bit worried the mad dash to create energy efficient cars will tail off now that gasoline is affordable. A serious oil shortage IS a reality we will have to face in our lifetime. Hopefully the past couple of years of ridiculous gas prices will remain a wake up call and not just a bad dream.

It doesnt give me any positive feeling about the Economy....
Its a bit odd how for the last year we have had awful gas prices...and now suddenly a bit before elections the prices drop....why is that again? did we somehow find out that oil can be made from dirt?
And its kind of funny how so many major republicans and republican supporters (aka party funders) are in, connected, or friends with people connected to the oil business

Oil companies like Republicans. Republicans like oil companies. The prices of gasoline are down right now so that you will forget how badly you were getting raped and hopefully vote for the oil companie's friends.
Watch what happens to gas prices once the November elections are over. Back to 3 bucks a gallon.

No it just shows that the Rep. have the oil companies in their pocket, or vice versa and the oil co. realize an election is coming up, so prices are lowered. the most obvious break on voters, which in turn leads people to think things are changing, thus more votes for Rep. in Nov. Wait till after the election, and you'll see we will be back to getting screwed with our pants on.

the gas prices are dropping because the oil industry is scared of the alternative fuels being introduced . companies have started talking about making petroleum fuels so they droped the price to discourage them .like the war or hurricanes had anything to do with the price raise its just an excuse

The day after election day the price will go back up to $3, and there will be some excuse like a broken pipeline or some junk like that.
