First if you are still doing it, get professional help, don't worry about jobs, worry about getting help.
But if you have visible scars, it can hurt your getting hired, they will never tell you that is the reason, but many companies don't hire people because they are fat, or bald and so on.
I was up for a very good job with another medical firm this year, the pay was alot more than I make, but I do this job for my company, they hired someone with less experince, my guess is because of my scars and my weight I did not give the company image they wanted.

I'm not sure about scar removal lotions I have never tried any. However being a cutter I do know what it's like. It is not legal for them to fire you because of scars. That is discrimination; because self mutilation is a mental health problem. As long as your actions aren't affecting your work in any way that is really none of their business. That isn't something I'd say during an interview, etc. I always tried to keep my cuts covered while at work, so attention wouldn't be drawn to me for that reason. I really hope your are at least getting counseling of some sort. This isn't something that will go away on it's own. Also, if you are being treated/counseled for this and someone would refuse to hire you or fire you because of cuts or scars then you would have a valid discrimination suit against them and a doctor or professional to back up your claim.

Depends on the job. I for one would not hire someone with a bunch of earrings in the wrong places, a mowhawk, and those big ear lobe thingies. Not that it makes you a bad person, but because the majority of adults would not patronize my store. Gotta look out for the best interest of the business. The legality of firing after hiring is questionable. If you show up one day with a fresh scar from doing whatever to yourself, the boss could recommend time off "til it healed" or get rid of you for "poor job performance". Scar removal lotions kinda help build new cells, but never really gets rid of the scar. And lastly...self mutilation is a sign of a problem. You've probably been told this already and are like "F U", but it's true. Anger issues? Depression? Social problems? I have a family member that would get a lighter hot and then burn himself to "control anger" or "stay awake". It's a serious problem that could affect you later. I have tatoos, but at least they are nice to look at. And a short sleeve shirt covers them up, lest someone be offended.

as for the scars lotion i do not know but its legal to fire a person if you own the company. If they wanna get rid of you all they have to do is make up an excuse. Thay do not have to tell you why you're being fired, but i doubt anyone would fire you because you have scars on your bod. main thing is will they hire you if they see them. Some people do not want to take a chance with you if they see the scars. If you still do this why don't you get counseling and learn why you do this to yourself.

Most states are "right to work" states. That means that legally, an employer can fire you for no reason at all. In the real world, the only reason they might fire you for it is if you have extensive customer contact and your scars show but they did not during your interview. If you don't deal with the public and you do a good job, it is highly unlikely that you would be fired. In this example, i assume the scars are on your arms but similar reasoning applies to other sites: If you wear long sleeves for the interview but are required to wear a short sleeved uniform, you may want to bring it up yourself. If you aren't required to wear short sleeves, wear long ones. Many employers will be understanding of all types of youthful mistakes. I know people who were hired at a major bank with old track marks and one with a tattoo on his hand and others with scars from suicide attempts, etc.

A company can hire anyone they choose. If they feel you'd be an insurance risk, and are not mentally stable because you cut yourself, they have the right not to hire you. If you do not cut anymore, and all you have is scars, and you don't intend on cutting yourself again...you may get hired. Some places ask you to have a physical examination, depending on the kind of job. Use the scar lotion and don't cut anymore, and I think you shouldn't have a problem.Have you had any counseling? Legally, you don't have a leg to stand on if you are still cutting yourself.I hope you take care of yourself, and don't hurt yourself anymore. God Bless you and I'll be praying for your success in stopping it, and in getting a job.

Yes, it is legal. There are very few reasons a boss cannot fire you for. You can even be fired because the boss is in a bad mood.
I hope this isn't a job where customers will get to see those scars. If it is you may have a valid worry. Otherwise, the scars themself in most cases will not make a difference.

Now and days places of hire can do pretty much anything. As far as my knowledge it isn't legal but laws are different in every state. scar removal lotions usually only works with light scars. If it really concerns you use a really thick foundation that goes with your complextion with a sponge and than finish out blending with fingers. Liquid works way better than the powder too. Also bare minerals.

You are showing signs of a mental illness, poor character, and poor judgment. Would you hire you? I don't want to be harsh but honest. Try wearing long sleeve shirts and dabbing foundation on your scars to hide them a little better. I think the lotions will work, but they work much better if you use them right after the cut. Hope you heal and best of luck.

It is illegal to hire or fire due to the presence of scars. If nothing else, try to cover them up if you can and are so worried about them. I don't know what scar lotions to recommend, but my two favorite lotions for dry skin are Gold Bond and St. Ives.
