You can do that if you already have a cable modem that your cable service allows. They have to provide you with the set-up protocol etc.. IP numbers and what not. As for your other inquiry-- I can't remember either but I know what your talking about. Wish I could help more.

Verizon will send you a self install kit. It is pretty simple. You just pop in the CD and follow the directions.

Not in my neck of the woods. If you buy a wireless router, you can see if any of your neighbors have free wireless signals bouncing around! LOL
