Okay, say you hate your name...is it okay to tell people you have a different name?

If you really hate where you are from and you just want to be a little different...is it alright to tell them you were born in one place and grew up in a place you didnt really grow up in....just for the sake of being...different..?

lol...

It is definately ok to live out your fantasies. Human beings are blessed with imagination... just make sure you have all your ducks in a row so you don't get caught! ^^

Uhm BTW Ashley, Oprah's real name was Harpo... just wondering if you knew that? *laughs* kind of ironic you used her as an example. Do you feel at all hurt that she told you her name is Oprah and you believed it? She didn't like the name so she reversed it. I see nothing wrong with it, it's her life, her name, her story.

Self-delusion is a dangerous art. Creative story-telling can lead to a lack of trust and ruin relationships, even the 'little' stuff.

Does it matter where you were born? Oprah was born in Mississippi and she tells the truth. She could have said "I was born in Los Angeles or London" but she wasn't.

Oprah was born in Mississippi. She is the richest woman on earth. Do you think people CARE that Oprah wasn't born in a trendy place??

Although lying is not encouraged or to some extend of total prohibition as taught by any religion, but as in your case and to what I think, if the purpose of lying not to the extend of hurting or causing the loss of dignity or properties of others, it is no harm.
