If you are talking about the general New years it's January 1st, it starts at ecactly midnight, New Years Eve (December 31st) is Also exactly one week from Christmas. If you are Talking about Chinese, it is on a different date, pending on which zodiac it is, (Rat, Dog, Monkey).
