1500 (it was the old SAT, not the writing section one), and my advice for Verbal is to read a lot of books w/ challenging vocabulary, take an English class which will make you do timed essays, and get plenty of sleep!

Sorry I didn't take it - Because I rocked the ACT. (Got a 36 in the verbal)

Study words you don't use. Just start learning new words. Learn derivatives of words.

Learn about unintended meaning.

Ex: "I dreamt of a icecream cone sitting in my math class."

Did I mean that I dreamt of an icecream cone that happened to be sitting in my math class, or did I dream of an icecream cone while I happened to be sitting in my math class. Either answer is valid.

Another great one is - "While travelling downtown I saw a firetruck with firemen wearing boots and firejackets."

Did I see a firetruck with firemen upon it who happened to be wearing their firejackets and boots, or did I see a firetruck wearing boots and firejackets that also had firemen on it?
Again, both are valid as it was written.

But the realization of the fine line of intention and what has actually been written is what you need to be able to discern.

There are alot of practice tests out there. Also I think there is SAT for dummies now. Google the word SAT practice test and you should get something. Do alot of diagramming and ask your English teacher for some tips or guidance counselor.
