I'd love to see you try to make the shroud of turin in the 21st century, much less the 14th. If it is a fake it was a phenomenally exceptional fake. The Hitler diaries were easy, along with the stuff that Brown talked about in a recent popular book. The crop circles are fun hoaxes, except to the farmers who won't get a full crop. It is a puzzle and sometimes the results are far more interesting than we would expect. Then again, sometimes there may be something real in there that is simply too good to be--wrong.

I never thought of the shroud as a fake as much as a mis interpretation. Someone wanted it to be what it is claimed to be.

One time, I signed some famous baseball player's name on an old beat up baseball and gave it to some jerk so he would go make a fool out of himself. (A bigger fool!)

That was just plain mean, but we all got a big kick out of it. That was a long time ago. I don't think I would do anything like that now.
