Loosen the nut between the drivers seatback and the steering wheel you will find it there !!!!!!!!! then pour a couple cans of beer in it and you will feel better in the morning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Engine is in the back, Gas Tank is in the front, and the thing inside the car under the dash above the hump is your fuel tank
reserve valve, cause most of the 59's had no gas gage!
If the Generator stand on the engine is one piece with the engine
block then you may have an origional 36hp engine if it is not the
motor has been replaced somewhere along the way!

Best way to refuel a '59 VW.
Roll down drivers window.
Place gas pump nozzle through widow.
Pump in 1 litre gasoline (a quarter gallon will do)
Remove pump nozzle
Toss in lighted match.
RUN AWAY.

Its in the trunk.......what you would normally call the HOOD. Anyway, the thingy on the front of the car that opens......where the motor normally is. Good luck. Pops
