Im so sorry sweety. I think that Americans (despite improvement) still have some prejudice in their hearts and it's hard for them to get rid of. The best thing for you to do is be proud of your blackness. Now-a-days blacks are in; not just the gangster ones. Maybe try out for a sport, be a little more talkative, reverse stereotypes (don't push it though). People want diversity; show em what you got; give em the best you got to offer. I dont know if you're female or not but I think this answer works with both genders. Good luck!

They might be a little intimidated by you that's all. Think of how it would be for them to go to your country and be alone. They may need a little help getting there. Bring something in from your homeland and show it and talk about it, that may help ease the tension. Or maybe you have a thick accent that is hard for them to understand. Pick a person and ask them what the problem is. For example; You could say: " Hey, just a question for you, do I seem mean or unfriendly to you?" See what that person says. You may find once you ask conversation will come more often. They really may be nervous? Any chance you are in high school or college? High schoolers are idiots anyway. Keep your head up and smiling. It's not so bad all the time. People do grow up and change. Hope you are enjoying your time here!

If you go to any typical school, everyone has their own little cliques. They are probably all waiting for each other to invite you in, because they are worried about what others will say. This is nothing to worry about, because if they can't see how interesting it would be to have a friend who is different, they are the ones who are missing out. Try not to be depressed, and look for someone in your school who also seems to be in need of a friend. I am sure they would appreciate it, if you took the chance, and talked to them. If you can't do it that way, you can always find a pen pal or friend (be careful), on the internet. It isn't going to last forever, so stay strong.

The best thing you can do is be the best person you know how to be. If these people won't talk then they are missing out on YOU !

NOT all Americans are rude though we are told we are.... I have yet to discriminate against anyone and there are many more like me. Keep your spirits high and DO NOT let these narrow minded people influence your mood or life!

You are the one allowing them to bring you down... You have control over YOUR OWN LIFE so time to suck it up and be strong. Go to school forever now with your head held high...one day a friend will walk into your life and you will be confident enough to see it.

: )

Sometimes people are afraid of people who are different. Perhaps you need to go talk to the school counselor, and they could give you some help.

The other thing I would suggest is to join a church youth group - that way you can meet some people away from the constraints of school in smaller groups.

Good luck!

Awww. It is probably because being from a different country, people are unsure how to interact with you. Just let your personality show thru and they will see you're just like them. Try joining some sort of extracurricular activity like sports or student council. Whatever you do, don't let a lack of attention from your peers effect your mood and self-confidence. Have more of a "I dont care what you think of me" attitude and magically you will make friends. I promise.
