She may think you are interesting looking or admire some of your features. Some people just like to people watch. It would be wierder if she didn't smile and look away...can you imagine if she just kept staring like a psycho!

Your teacher wants you to know that she is there to support you. A kind smile and eye contact is a teacher's way of letting you know she's there for you without playing favorites. If you look around I'm sure she does that with the other students too.

Don't make such a case over a teacher's actions such as this. You can't read someone else's mind. If it was a smile you saw, it is a good sign.

because 9 times out of 10 they are not staring at you ...they are staring in your direction and it looks like she is looking at you... then you say hi and they say oh my God I guess i was caught starinng..and then they get embarrassessed and turn their head...

It is simple, she just wanted you to be aware that you are paying attention to her , it is a test of respect. Dont worry about it, just have respect for her and you will do fine.

Maybe she thinks you attractive. people like to look at attractive people. Then she may be embarrassed that you saw her.
