been through this they check your thyroid glands to feel the size and feel for abnormal growths. and for any change's, mine was pretty swollen and was hard to swallow. i just had the radioactive iodine to kill them last month and they are shrinking and i can swallow alot better. you can email me if u have any questions.

swollen lymph nodes - these are glands that swell up when infection is present .. they are located in the armpits, groin area and most often checked in the neck under the jaw line near the ears
if swollen they can be anything from the size of a pea to a golf ball .. occasionally worse

any swelling around your lymph nodes and any hardness that may result in a tumor. I just had one removed last month ouch!!
