Go buy a "faucett wrench". It's about a foot long, with an adjustable swivel tip which you can slip onto the center nut of the grinder and turn the nut in reverse. The penny will loosen. You will have to reach into the opening to retrieve it. Don't get your arm stuck.

If the disposal is jammed take allen wrench 1/4 inch stick in bottom of disposal and turn counter clockwise to unjam. then when disposal spins freely both directions...(using allen wrench) stick your hand in there and retrieve your penny...you may also have to hit the red reset button under the disposal if it jammed and tripped it.

Sometimes you can just reach down and get it out with your hands. Or you could use pliars, etc. or take the whole sink apart. No matter which option you choose, make sure the garbage disposal is OFF.

first look at the switch and make sure it can't be accidentaly turned on while youre getting the penny out, afterwards, hit the little red reset button on bottom, turn on the cold water let it run a minute, get your head away from sink.. then turn on garbage disposal.

take out the garbage disposal then use a pliers or anything else that grabs...you could also do this without taking it off, but it is hard to see

Use a screwdriver to dislodge it, then use pliers to pull it out. Never stick your hand in there!
