I have Shield and Full-Cure materia but even though I beat Allemagnes and Dazers (800 ap ea.) neither materia will obtain the ap. Why is this?

check the materia growth on your weapon/armor. if its on weapon or armor that dont allow gain youve been wasting your time.
why in gods name are you using shield and full-cure? get Restore, Life and Barrier. those are the only magic materia you need...

Make sure the materia isn't Mastered and that you're NOT equipped with stuff with the "nothing" status for the AP growth section. Try fighting Movers and the Magic Pots(sp?) they give tons of AP.

If they are in your ultimate weapons they wont gain anything. Check you weapons' materia growth status first. Or they might me maxed out. Check if all the stars are filled and it says "mastered!".
