Get a massage!! I'm a massage therapist, and most of my clients come to me for chronic pain/injury. Massage increases circulation to the area, and brings more blood to the surface of the skin. Deep tissue massage stretches and and releases "knots" in the muscle fibers.

It works well with dealing with stress, which is a major cause of spasms along with lack of minerals and nutrients. Magnesium, Potassium, and Calcium are three minerals that when you lack them can cause spasms. Drink more water, you probably are also dehydrated, most people are.

When locating a massage therapist be sure to check if they have any education, and /or license or certification. In Pennsylvania and other states there is no licensing, or certification by the state. However they can be certified by a school of massage, like myself. So if you live in any of these states "therapists" may not have any clue as to what they are doing, this may lead to injury to yourself or at least a negative experience for you. Also consider seeing a naturopathy, these people can tell you if you're toxic in certain areas of your body, lack vitamins, minerals, nutrients, etc.. They can give you specific herbs and other natural supplements. Most of them also specialize in stress management. Acupuncture can also bring great relief, and if you don't like the "needle" part there is a "needless" version that also works very well.

I have them also. You need to stay relaxed. Pay attention to what relaxes you. Notice if your shoulders are up around your ears ---if they are, let them drop down to where they should be --- keep in tune with your body. Once you start relaxing your body in those small ways it will help with the spasms.
Also -- a good night's sleep will do wonders!!!! AND make sure that you stay warm when you are in bed at night. Stay covered up -- when you are cold in the night your body tenses up- causing spasms. Also -- take advantage of massage! Nothing beats a good massage. Every time anyone wants to get you a gift and asks what you would want -- always tell them a professional massage. That way you can go get one every few months!!! Helps your muscles stay limber.

Try taking Valerian root (may cause drowsiness), and magnesium chelates 250 mg 3 times a day. Also, take calcium citrate with vitamin D 3 times a day for balance. See the book recommended below for more info and suggestions. Good luck!

Calcium citrate and magnesium supplements are the best bet for you-calcium carbonate causes gas-and take on an empty stomach as calcium takes time to absorb in the intestinal tract. 1200 mgs/600 mgs respectively. Some companies sell fiber and calcium together- dumb-malabsorbtion. I wish they still sold kava kava in the states , that would have helped you alot too.
