he's on the 401 right now and I am terrified - I tried to tell him I'd pick him up, but he would not hear of leaving his work vehicle nor me taking the kids at bedtime in our van to do this - kept saying it was stupid - he's stupid, but won't listen! I need advice. Now what to say to the poor children listening to this phone call!

I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with this.

If you think he is really drunk then call the police - I think the OPP patrol the 401. Tell them where he left from, what time he left and where he is heading

If they stop him and he is angry with you tell him that you will call the police every time he drives when he has been drinking.

My husband died when he was 40 (not drink related, he had cancer) and my two kids had to grow up without a father, and I can tell you that it was awful for them to be fatherless at a young age.

Your children deserve to have their father around and if he were in a terrible accident and someone was killed, or he was paralysed, you would have terrible guilt that you didn't do anything.

When he is sober, suggest he goes to AA and you go to Al anon because you need support.

Good Luck!

call a friend and tell your husband to get off the expressway and meet you someplace so you can drive home because he's not in the condition to do so. It's the only way if you don't want him getting arrested for a DUI. I think once he's home it's time to discuss his drinking because if this has become a regular occurance this is a sign of a problem. People who drink to the point of intoxication are alcoholics and your husband sounds like he needs some kind of help.

If he is on the highway now, the best thing would be to pray that he arrives home safely without hurting anyone or himself. Drinking and driving is against the law and it is also irresponsible. Once he is sober, speak calmly to him about this behavior and suggest AA. Don't wait until there is an accident or death. Drunk drivers kill innocent people.

If you really worry about his safety call the cops. It may wreck your marraige but it would be better than not having to tell your children that they will be spending the rest of their lives without a father.

You are not near him physically, and if you are far off and can't reach him immediately ,he doesn't listen to you then leave it to him what else can you do?Let him experience and learn .sometimes life and situations are not in our control you got to leave it to God and don't worry.Learn not to worry unnecessarily.
