It's that fake sour cream stuff the junior high cafeteria puts on your baked potato. But it's spelled IMO.
And you're too pretty not to smile.

Yeah, I felt that way too. Still haven't got a good answer from anyone but apparently all those little teens and twenty-somethings you see all full of angst and all sad and depressed are said to be "emo". Has something to do with the music they listen to as well but I'm so freaking old I have no idea who any of those bands are! Near as I can tell, it's the softer side of Goth.

emo - short for "emotional." Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock.
Check out this website - it gives the history and stuff about the word emo..

those geeky glasses are sometimes associated with emo. and the guys wear tight clothes a lot of the time.
also, i think it's really horrible to stereotype emo kids as cutting themselves. i used to cut myself and i was almost a "prep"
actually, it's just stupid to label people, but the sad truth is it will always happen. sorry for being all opiniony, you're probably sorry you asked.

lol, I had to explain this to my parents too. They are the kids (guys especially) that wear extremely tight skinny pants and usually have longer hair with bangs to the side. Usually they're in a band. A lot of people think that they are really emotional and slit their wrists and stuff, but honestly, most don't.
If you are confused just go to the mall on Friday night, you'll get it.

subgenre of hardcore punk music. Since its inception, emo has come to describe several independent variations, linked loosely but with common ancestry. As such, use of the term (and which musicians should be so classified) has been the subject of much debate

go to myspace and look for the kids with a bunch of hair over their face looking totally pathetic.
Emo talk:
girlfriend: C'mon, lets have sex.
boyfriend: I'm too sad to have sex.
girlfriend: I'm sad too; lets have sex and cry.
boyfriend: I'm already crying.
