Never. Limewire is a good software. It doesnot come with viruses or spywares, But listen, u can share anything, right? Including viruses. So be careful on wat u download. Ppl may attatch virus onto the file they have put for sharing. Thats the only way u're gonna get infected. I use Limewire basic, download songs etc, still haven't got any viruses. Donot download anything less than 1 megabyte. Such files are more prone to viruses. Again, download files which have good deal of sources. This way u can control viruses. Have a good Firewall(I use ZoneAlarm) and a good antivirus software.

( Note that Kazaa, Bearshare etc comes bundled with spywares, but limewire doesn't)

Limewire is fun, but 2 things should make you avoid it:

1. It has known spyware/sniffware in it (firewall or not! Is it running
on your box dnloading a file? If so it's allowed through! Alittle over-
simplification, but true).

2. It is TOO well known now (R.I.A.A. is actively prosecuting people
through your ISP [court ordered] who are using it and dnloading
songs). Many of the major ISP's (Charter, Comcast) have publicly released that they must comply with federal court orders
for offender identification....

I have had limewire installed for several months and have had no problems. Make sure to have a firewall, antivirus scanner, and some type of spyware/adware removal tool in place.

Limewire in and of itself will not 'attack' your computer.
But many of the files that you download may be infected.
By the way...it's STEALING to download copyrighted music, video, etc.
BUY what you want, you have no right to steal!

We have downloaded it twice and got viruses both times. The second time it cost us $98 to get it professionally removed because it froze up our computer. I won't download it again. Make sure you have a really good firewall if your going to try it.
