white and yellow like now ....green on st patricks day...seriously well the parade route anyway down euclid has always been painted green. so instead of double yellow lines you have double green its kinda nice where chicago dyes thier river( we should have u seen the state of it lately?) we color our road lines. to each his own i guess.

In New York State, the lines on highways were always white in the 50's. I don't know when they changed to yellow, believe it was in the 60's.

Seems to me that they were all white .

I believe that the use of yellow paint on streets is a relatively new idea, perhaps as late as the 1970s, since somebody figured out that yellow is more likely to attract attention.

Everything was black and white then. Color didn't exist untill the 60's. Just look at the old TV shows.
