Would you wear a burka to save your own life or would you die to preserve Western freedoms?

retiredslash: That's right women only. Only women have to wear the Burka. Therefore, it doesn't apply to men. As for your British friend, she did not wear the Burka in the UK did she? How would British (or any Western Country) women feel being forced to wear it because of Sharia law? That's the question.

In my own country? I would fight it unto death. I will not let my rights be taken from me. Nor will I submit to another persons beliefs. If it was required by my religion I would wear it of course. But not if someone was trying to force me to give up my freedoms.

I'm not a woman, but not all women in the middle east wear burkas cause their husbands force them to, they wear them because they want to and they believe it is right, not thei rhusbands.

WOMAN ONLY in Politics and government? This is why there has been no woman president, separating male and female politics. Would you want a male president who said up front he only represented men? I don't think so. And, it is a lie that we have had male presidents who only represented men.

One answer is correct. Some years ago, National Geographic had an article about the 'veils' worn by women in some nations. In the article, they had a picture of an absolutely gorgeous woman who was a student in an England University.

They had another picture of her at home in her country, wearing GUESS WHAT?

And, she said she much preferred the veil. When she had it on, she was absolutely safe around men; was protected; and never sex harassed, as she routinely was in England.

You women who say you'd die first remind me of the big-mouth gun wimps who say they will never give up their guns. When they look out the front window and see all those armed police coming to the door, they will stop the tough talk, and hand them over, just as most of you women will put on the veil if you are about to have your heads chopped off.

To save my own life, no. I would have a big problem if they had a gun to my childs head. That would be a difficult choice. For me it would be more a "freedom of religion issue" though. If it was our custom, I guess we would do it. But if putting it on meant that I was making a statement that I was joining their religion...no way...not in any case. I would never publicly or privately turn my back on my God!

What is wrong with wearing a burka? I do not see a problem. It is better than posing nude for some magazine, or dressing like a prostitute in public in front of ones kids???

They are scared right now. There is no definite freedom in the middle east countries of our occupation, despite what i have seen some uninformed people saying on yahoo answers.

Honestly though - can you imagine wearing that in 120 degree heat? They must smell like open sewers!

Interesting. I personally think that would be one good reason to go to war against radical islamic terrorism.

But then again, I think we already have enough reasons, and they're called our children.
