Is it just to keep the republicans as the majority in the house and the Senate? Do you know how they got the slaves to build the pyramids for them in Egypt? They took away everything they had, and barely gave them enougo to survive, then they would give them scraps every now and then and the slaves learned to be grateful for those scraps, is that what's happening?

I think you hit the nail on the head!!! Good question, and yes the price of gas falling before election is a stunt--it was predicted.
It has happened. Don't worry the oil companies will not suffer, they had many more months of "record" profits, the gas saving now has already been paid for!

I think the real reason gas prices have gone down is:

1. The oil companies priced themselves out of the market for very low income people. Since these people simply could NOT afford the gas, they HAD to quit buying it.

2. The people that COULD buy the high priced gas simply slowed down on driving, only drove their more economical vehicles and, therefore, controlled how much gas they used.

When the oil companies get their oil and gas inventories down, the oil suppliers (Arabs & others) get their oil inventories down.....you will see the gas go sky high again.

The people could control ALL the gas prices IF they would only work together and do it!!! For the oil company's CEOs to make the millions/billions they are making.....they HAVE to sell gas. They are used to the money piling into their companies and flooding them with dollars. IF they sell less gas....they have less money for their pockets. They have become so greedy, they can't stand it. Stick together folks.......get into their pockets by buying less gas. The oil companies have the ability to destroy the US of A and may just end up doing it. Just DO IT. Pops

the authorities insists it really is because grant is up (extra oil has been latest in American managed elements) and insist is down (summer season is over and youthful toddlers are again at school, thus far fewer vacation trips are being taken). and that i do imagine to a pair extent that explains it. yet you're perfect, it has dropped a huge quantity contained in the span of a pair of weeks. too a lot to be defined through that clarification from the authorities. i'd flow with the oil organizations understanding that they'd have screwed their acquaintances contained in the Repubican ranks through raising the costs so intense. anybody is ticked off because they blame Republicans (who're in can charge at the moment) for the previous meteoric upward push in gasoline expenditures. So the oil organizations have dropped the costs down very close to to election time to extra ideal make certain Republicans are voted again in to Congress. once elections are over the price will flow again up (no count number who wins Congress, yet when Republicans win it is going to flow up even more beneficial than if Democrats win).

The drop in gas prices is a natural result of supply and demand, since the heavy summer driving season is over there is less demand, while OPEC is still running at a high level of production. OPEC is doing so to reduce the price of oil so the world will not go into recession with the attendant plummeting in the price of oil. Additional factors are the repair of oil facilities in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Katrina; the discovery of deep reserves of oil in the Gulf, almost doubling America's oil reserves; reduction of Mideast tensions after the end of the Hezbollah-Israeli War; reduction of tensions over the Iranian nuclear program with the resumption of talks with the Europeans; reduction of tensions on the Korean peninsula; etc. etc. etc.

Theories and theories a flourish on the answer for the fast drop in gas prices. One theory suggests we've found a HUGE oil mother-lode in US soil that overshadows that owned by OPEC.

Another theory suggests Detroit's "Big Three (or five, if you inculde Volkswagen and Hummer)" saw high gas prices began pinching THEIR profits--and they made it clear American Big Oil should "back off--fast".

And The Urban Legend Fairy reports that The Lexx has slipped NORAD space monitors and is currently parked behind the Moon. The Captain of the Lexx has demanded OPEC and the US fast drop oil prices.....or the Lexx will slam down a planet destryoing beam of energy on Earth. This is my favorite theory; albeit one I don't belive to be true.

after a fashion

What is really happening is

-summer demand in over

-Bush recently eased tensions with Iran who is an oil producing nation. Thus erasing fears about near term oil distruptions from Iran. Do you really think Bush didn't know this would lower oil prices?

-Gulf refineries are operating again.

-oil companies have stockpiles they aren't sure if they need to keep. Thus they are releasing some of that oil.

And it all benefits the republicans in congress.

I answered this one a few weeks ago. Listen carefully...it is the END of SUMMER DRIVING SEASON. there are NO HURRICANES interrupting oil production in the gulf this year (as of yet). HISTORICALLY, gas prices drop before ELECTIONS, although there is not any power play by your politians at work. AND, imagine this, oil prices around the world have dropped!!

Wow, that was hard to figure out!

One month before the elections the gas drops by $1.00 a gallon.

If the Republicans get elected it will go back up the day after!

I believe the recent drop in gasoline prices can be linked to the upcoming mid term elections in November. I expect prices to rise shortly after the election. In that sense I suppose it is a conspiracy.

Doesn't everyone know how close GWB has always been to major oil corporations? He got their support for his elections in 2000 and 2004, and he is once again for November. It's fairly obvious.
