I am going to have a dinner party for my birthday, but the only thing is I do not want to pay for everyone. How do I put it nicely in my invitations that they pay for their own meal?

It should go without saying that they pay for their own dinner as well as pitch in to have yours covered. But just in case, on the invite just say "please bring cash as cards can be confusing" that way you're not saying it out-right and the bill will be handled easier. Hope this helps :-)

Your guests shouldn't assume you are paying - they should be prepared to pay for their own meal and then all pitch in a dollar or two to pay for your meal - if I was going to a dinner that I knew was for your birthday it wouldn't even cross my mind that you were paying for it. I don't know - maybe my friends are different.

That's a hard question. I guess just put everyone is responsible for their own food. Or if it's at your home just say everyone brings a dish unless this is last minute. Best of luck, hope it's a blast.
