Is it the people who are different or just the names of the parties? Once elected into office do the Republicans fire all of the army and get a new army? Is the CIA replaced with new guys? Is the FBI sent packing and all new agents hired? What about the chef at the Whitehouse is he demoted to dishwasher and a new sous chef hired, maybe one who can make Pizza from scratch? So what are the real differences anyway?

They are most certainly different.

Democrats are liberal which means that they think the past, for the most part, sucks and they want to change the culture and the laws so that the future will be different from and better (in their opinion) than the past.

Republicans are conservative which means that they think the past wasn't so bad and they prefer maintaining the status quo and, to whatever extent changes to the culture are going to be made, it is better to make those changes slowly rather than immediately.

And, there is also a difference in terms of how they believe the judicial branch should interpret the Constitution. In "The Federal Courts, Politics, and the Rule of Law," by John C. Hughes (published 1995), it says:

"In the contemporary political context, those who fear conformity have tended to describe themselves as liberal and have tended to applaud judicial 'protection' of human rights. Those who fear diversity have tended to call themselves conservatives and have been appalled by judicial 'usurpation' of the majority's discretion to form the kind of community it finds most conducive to its own happiness. The former tends to approve of the expansive theories of constitutional interpretation, while the latter tends to prefer the restrained theories of judicial review. These alignments are neither perfect nor inevitable, but the debate has surely been shrill."

It is really quite simple, most democrats want a socialist form of government, read the link below please.

Most republicans prefer a free market economy.

Me I am a capitalist and like a FREE market versus the evils of socialism.

Clitoon when he got in FIRED everyone, when this bush got in he kept almost everyone until they showed to not be up to the job. I think he has missed a few failures though, the treasonous national security leaks to the NYT proves my point.

If all and sundry solutions, "Republicans are extra perfect. Democrats are extra perfect..." and so on., do not pay interest to that. Republicans and Democrats are in elementary words diverse because of their political critiques. Democratic party - between both major political activities interior u.s.; the Democrats. The origins of the Democrats are in the Democratic-Republican party, prepared through Thomas Jefferson in the late eighteenth century; the first president elected in simple terms as a Democrat develop into Andrew Jackson. continually good in the South, the party develop into seriously damaged through secession, the Civil conflict, and Reconstruction, and did not produce a triumphing presidential candidate between 1861 and 1885, even as Grover Cleveland develop into elected. in the late 19th and early twentieth centuries, compared to the Republicans, the Democrats tended to be the party of the South and West, antagonistic to the interests of commercial employer and the Northeast. Woodrow Wilson, the subsequent Democratic president, develop into component to the modern stream. in the era of the recent Deal, in the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Democratic party reached massive power between confusing paintings union members, minority communities, and middle-earnings human beings. Republican party - between both major political activities interior u.s.. The party began in 1854 (see lower than “American historic previous to 1865”); Abraham Lincoln, elected in 1860, develop into the first Republican president. throughout Reconstruction, many Republicans were wanting to punish the South for its former slaveholding and for its secession from u.s.. The northern Republicans, as an social gathering, supported carpetbaggers in southern governments. After Reconstruction, the Republicans favored a intense protecting tariff and were typically considered the defenders of northeastern and organisation interests. The party supported the Spanish-American conflict and the enlargement of us of a territory remote places. some Republicans were component to the modern stream of the early twentieth century. in the Nineteen Twenties, the party reestablished its acceptance for helping organisation and as being careful of any enlargement of the position of authorities in nationwide existence. This characterization remains a fairly precise, if simplistic, description of elementary Republican perspectives.

Republicans are for smaller government.Cut Taxes so you bring more of your money home. You spend it, and the economy get stronger. They want each states to be more responsible for the people in their states . They want you to keep your money, and be responsible to save(privatized social security) for old age yourself (your choices of where to invest),so you can earn more money on the dollar then you would with social security. And when you die all the money you saved that you didn't use can go to your spouse or children. Social Security now keeps all your money if you die before its gone, and your children are over 18. Your family will get none of it after your spouse dies and no one can live well on social security.
. Republicans want us to remain a Soverign Nation...a Republic with a democratic government. They support the military completely. They are for fair, moral and ethical government. When they are President..and there is a problem ...the president s always say the buck stops at the TOP... with the President.. They believe in right and wrong...Black and white...good and evil...moral absolutes.

Democrats like BIG Government, high taxes, for all the social programs they yuse your tax dollar to creat. You pay for illegals to have free medical, schools ,housing and welfare..and food . They are for lowering standards so all people fit into the same nook. They make it difficult for people who work hard to get ahead in life, because if you make more money to better your families life..the Democrats say it's unfair, and raise your taxes so high, you only get 1/3 of what you make, and the rest goes to pay for all the government programs for those who are illegal, or don't feel like working as hard as you do. They are not big military supporters. They don't like a Captialistic society where you can suceed and go as far as you dream to go with hard work. They are for Socialist government. It is not the way the Founding Fathers created it to be.
The Democratic Presidents say if something goes wrong... it was one of the people around thems fault. It is never there fault as a good boss should say it is...The Buck Always stop somewhere else.
They don't believe in right and wrong, good and evil, black and white...they think everything is Gray...no moral absolutes.

*********Democrats talk about the different policies, positions, and priorities we'd see from a Democrat in the White House versus a Republican.

Most Democrat and Republican politicians - including Clinton, Gore, Kerry and Bush - hold similar positions on major issues - and that's why we need a real choice at the polls: a party that gives power to "We the People" instead of powerful corporations.

If you look at where the candidates and parties stand on the issues you can see that the Democrat and Republican parties are in basic agreement on most issues OR they agree to ignore important issues.

Despite all the screaming, Democrats try to copy off the Republicans.
Democrats have NO ideas of their own, except:
Raise taxes on the working people.
Surrender to the terrorists.
Turn this into a socialist nation like North Korea, only "a nice North Korea".

Democrats try to help all citizens through welfare programs, which they are called commies for. And Republicans give tax cuts to the rich people, and cause financial hardships for the middle class.
