You are asking for a lot of information, so I'm just going to give you some links to help you.

Then follow categories to get to the pearl necklaces, don't do a search. Look at the reviews and guides listed at the left side of the page. They can help you to find a good necklace.

Then look at the necklaces that catch your eye. AAA+ is the best grading for pearls, meaning that they are very lustrous (the sheen), very smooth (the surface), very thick nacre (the mother of pearl coating that helps to protect the pearl), perfect round (shape), almost no natural flaws (the surface). You'll probably want strands that are 5-7mm rounds to keep them small. If you want a traditional strand that is the same size throughout, don't buy any necklaces that have more than 0.5mm difference from pearl to pearl. It should say 5-5.5mm or 6-6.5mm. Don't buy one that says 5-6mm or 6-7mm. If you want a graduated strand (where the pearls get bigger as they come to the front) make sure that there is listings for the grades for each size on the strand. If there is no listing, then don't buy the necklace.

First you should do some research on buying pearls before you buy them off line or buy them from a jewelry store website. You may have a better chance of geting the real thing and the right thing

Why would you want pearls? they are so uptight looking. Go for the diamonds or your birthstone.
