Somebody says "hey" to you, then they tilt their head. This happends every once in a while when i talk to someone and i was just wondering what it meant.

It is just a basic greeting. In the old days, men would tip their hats. It is just a way of emphasizing he greeting.

maybe they have had a bad day or something but they still wanted to say hi maybe they are hinting you to ask them how their day went that way they can tell you all the things that have happed to them
