You probably shouldn't go running tonight. If it's a cough due to cold you should try to keep very warm, because germs can't survive in hot temperatures. That's why you're body produces a fever to kill germs. There is some truth to 'sweating out a cold'
though, because if you can raise youtr body temperature a lot, enough to create a heavy sweat for a sustained period, then this will help kill some of the germs that are making you sick. So if you do go running bundle up big time and start your run with the wind at your back so you won't be as cold.

I have a bad cough too, and I would think that running would make me hack up a lung or something.

I love being outside at night, and I think that's why I haven't been getting better.

Id recommend staying in tonight. Try drinking some herbal tea.

If I were you I'd give my throat and possibly lungs a break. It's going to put stress on whatever the problem is and could make it a lot worse. Why not give it a day ot two and see if it settles down ,then run. If not then you've saved yourself more problems. Hope you feel better and are running tom.

Oh, I've had that before. If it hurts so much that you have trouble speaking, don't run. But sometimes a little fresh air will help.
