Actually true conservatives do not want a national ID. That is getting way too Orwellian.

Many conservatives oppose a National ID as well. I do support requiring State issued photo IDs for voting on the other hand. Proof of legal residence should be required to obtain such ID. Any non-citizen IDs should state that the holder is not a citizen.

Because the liberals hate it when the majority try to do something that will even the playing field. If you listen hard enough, the ones that hollar the most for personal freedom wants to take it away the quickest. Just look at the far left who wants no views but there own protected speech. How come, at different events when the majority are God fearing Christians they are denied a freedom of speech while gays, homosexuals, and the anti-Christians can call people Nazis and get away with it?

Here in Canada we use our drivers licences, Immigration card or Provincal Id. We need it to vote, it takes 2 seconds to show it and get your ballot

It's always good to have a photo id.

A better question for you is why hasn't the United States REQUIRE photo id?

I am a conservative republican and I don't want a national voter id card. Lets concentrate on having the votes count first without any possibilty of stealing an election then lets talk ID cards.

Why the card? Like a piece of paper and plastic makes a difference? Don't you have enough stuff to carry? With Identity theft so prevalent, cards don't mean jack.

Because this sounds like wrist tatoos imposed by the Nazis, government tracking of private citizens just like in barbaric ditatorships, another sham by the Republican to fool those that want to be fooled into thinking elections haven't and won't be stolen and another sham to hide government waste and fraud

I would think it's because there are so many different nationalities in this country. It doesn't seem that fair to ask someone to pick one "nationality" over another. I mean, really, what does being "American" entail?
