Many of our Ancestor have Irish heritage. As the years have went on and many outsiders traveled and planted roots in Ireland the name system has many names which do not sound Irish. I am full Norwegian and I was really surprised when our Norwegian name was also in Ireland and that name had been there for at least one Hundered years or more. The name Thompson, is Scandinavian, but it could also mean the the Wife of Mr. Thompson was full Irish. That is why the younger generations wonder about this. As you study names , you can almost tell what nationality it comes from Like in Norway. Thompson would mean the Son of Thomas . So many in America would then go by Thompson. The Norwegians were really guilty of messing up the names. Very complicated. The Irish names are easier to trace back. Like Murphy, Malanaphy, O'Brien, Shannahan, Kenny, Kennedy, Patrick, Fitzpatrick, Fitzgerald and etc. The name Thompson is not Irish, I am not sure about Beavers. Sounds like English. Keep searching. Type Ireland in your Search and it will take you all over. Good luck
