I know many women who swear by it as a way to prevent plugged ducts (which can lead to mastitis) if they're having problems with that over and over again. Particularly, one of my friends says that she has to take it three times a day like clockwork, or the plugged ducts come back.

It won't do anything to treat an existing case of mastitis, however. If you currently have mastitis, I would go to a doctor for antibiotics, or check the alternative treatment advice (mostly, rest, keep nursing and treat the symptoms) given in the links.

Hope this helps- mastitis and plugged ducts are the suckiest part of nursing, in my opinion.

Not sure about lecithin ... try a health food store where there's a nutrionist/health practioner on duty ... they'll be able to help you... you can always call them and ask...

When I had mastitis, I found cold compresses worked the best.. and had antiobiotics from the doc, as it's an infection your doc probably recommend this..

Good luck..
