if she is going to the doctor as scheduled, and he doesn't see anything wrong, then nothing is. i mean, is she not eating right because she is eating fatty foods? or junk foods? when i was pregnant two years ago, there were certain things that i craved, and that's all i could eat. anything else would make me sick. as long as your wife takes her prenatal vitamins, and any other vitamins that the doctor prescribes her, and maintains a helthy weight gain during the whole pregnancy, then i'm sure the baby will be just fine. just remind your wife that she must eat healthy and keep reminding her!! when i was pregnant, i ate alot of pizza, drank alot of pop, and ate alot of peaches. and my baby turned out just fine. all women are different, though. if you can not seem to get thru to your wife, you are more than welcome as the father and husband to speak with her doctor alone, and maby the two of you can come up with something. i hope this helps!!

Depends on what she is eating and how much (or little) she is eating. Is she taking prenatal vitamins? If not.... yes, she is hurting the baby BIG time. If she is taking the vitamins, she will probably be okay... but she will find after she has the baby, that the weight is not coming off or she can develop diabetis.
If she is not eating hardly anything (and she is not experiencing "morning sickness"... she just doesnt for the fact that she doesnt want to gain weight) then that can cause major problems. My aunt did that when she was pregnant and she ended up delivering her daughter at 6 months pregnant due to malnorishment... and unfortunatly, her daughter was dead when she came out from lack of nutrition.

I have two kids. Ages 22 months and 6 months. I gained 55 lbs with each child and I have almost lost all of it. The most important thing is that she takes her prental vitamins and drinks TONS of water. No drugs or alcohol of course. Although a little red wine is allowed in her 3rd trimester I believe. I ate what I wanted with both pregnancies. and I had two beautiful and HEALTHY children. I also had fast and easy deliveries. I wouldn't worry. Just make sure she doesn't eat fast food more than a few times a week ;) They also say to eat your fruit rather than drink it because fruit juice has a high suger content. Give the girl a break! Her body is going through a lot a little extra ice cream here and there is just what she needs!

As long as she is getting all the vitamins she needs (which she should be, since she ought to be taking prenatal vitamins), she and your baby will still be OK. She'll just gain more weight with the pregnancy than she would otherwise. Women get a lot of weird cravings during pregnancy, and she's already uncomfortable, cranky, and hormonal as it is, so you need to just back off and focus on being comforting and supporting to her, not making her sick.
What happens to your wife happens to your baby, so trying to hurt your wife is NOT a good idea. There isn't anything that will hurt one but not the other. I can't believe you'd even consider doing such a thing to her. This woman is carrying your child- you ought to be kissing her feet, not bitching about her cravings. If you want her to eat healthier, try cooking for her!

Not every woman goes "text book" when they get pregnant! You would be surprised at what that little fetus can handle. I was taking ephedrine and smoking when I found out I was pregnant, I was a month and a half along by that point and I stopped, but my baby turned out just fine. Yeah, I wish I would have done some things different, but I didn't know I was pregnant.
I didn't eat totally healthy either, the baby will take what it needs first and im sure will be fine.
Relax a little, don't make to big of deal of things or you will stress her out and that will be worse than her not eating as good as she could.

Tell her that it is critical to the fetus' health that she eats a balanced diet. She needs iron, folic acid, calcium vitamin a b c b6 b12 etc. Without some of these nutrients the fetus could have developmental problems, preterm birth or be underweight and size. Have her take prenatal vitamins (you can buy them over the counter at the drug store) they ensure that no matter what your diet is, that you are getting the basic nutrients. You should really convince her to eat healthy though.

You hurt the mom you hurt the baby. She should be taking prenatal vitamins. Not sure what you mean by not eating right. Is she not eating at all, eating junk food? Try cooking a few meals for her, i'm sure she'd like that too.

Yes she is putting both herself and the baby at risk; at this point your baby is relying on her diet for very important vitamins and minerals for developing her immune system and brain development. She is also setting herself up for anemia, blood sugar issues, high blood pressure, a whole bunch of very nasty complications. Call her OB doctor if you are that concerned and she won't listen to you. She is being very careless and selfish by not putting the health of her baby in first place.

she could hurt baby or herself by not being healthy enough for things like fighting off colds and infections. why is she not eating? I just had a baby and nutritious shakes and veggie/fruit juices were the best vwhen I didn't have room for much or in between meals. Make her do it...
