Next year, I am going to be a freshman undergrad. As of right now, I want to be a pediatrician and I aim to go to med school. What majors would you suggest? Is physiology a bad idea?

iritadragon: Um, I'm sorry, but did you read the question at all? I'm a senior in high school. I haven't even filled out my applications yet. It's not "too late," so don't scold me.

iritadragon: I want to apologize for lashing out at you. I don't know why I got so irritated, but you were just trying to help and it was really inappropriate of me. Thanks for your answer.

you can actually major in a wide variety of things. biology and chemistry are probably the most popular majors for pre-med students. you could also pursue something like physiology, math, or psychology. i know a girl who majored in anthropology and is now in med school.

most schools have a pre-med track that you can pursue within any major. ask an advisor who can help you. good luck!

Ask the medical school you want to attend, what courses are requirements for admission. You actually should have thought of this sooner...you might not have left yourself enough time to take the courses you'll need to start out right. It could mean a year of make-up at the medical school.

Well, I'm sorry, Kathie, but they have freshman undergrads in college too.

The answer remains the same though...get in touch with the medical school you want to attend. Find out what their requirements are for entry, and take appropriate classes.

There are a lot, but people said that people with humamities degrees, such as business, english, etc, has a higher chance of getting into med school.
Generally, bio major is good because you need to complete the pre-med requirement anyway.
As a pre-pharm student myself, I am gonna major in biochem/microbiology.

Talk to a school advisor. I'm sure he/she can put you on the pre-med track.
