I had a toenail removed on each foot, and they injected a local anesthetic into my toes. More than 24 hours later my toes are extremely numb. I called the doctor this morning and they said it could last a little bit, but I am wondering how long this will last. It is uncomfortable!

I work for a podiatrist. It is not unusual for the toe to be numb into the next day. If it lasts over 3 days, I would be more concerned and contact the doctor again. Try keeping the foot elevated.

I had a mole bumped off many years in the past. The anesthetic injections were truly tremendous, and the technique itself change into no longer painful interior the least. the great inconveniences change right into somewhat soreness and stiffness lasting some days afterwards, and some quite severe itching lasting various weeks. you'll probable opt to computer screen a disinfectant each day, something your dermatologist will confer with you. you could also opt to seek for suggestion from from him about itching drugs and options of software that isn't intervene with the healing tissue. The scar continues to be recent, even if it change right into a huge mole interior the small of my back; so yours received't be so acute. even if it really is on your chest, you could or received't be able to positioned on a bra for a time, so plan your social agenda for this reason. strong success, and do not agonize!

Well, I'm thinking numb is better than pain. I worked with Dr. who did this. The main nerve is shot up and numbed so you can have the nail removed. it does a little damage to the nerve so just give it time. try to relax and when you can soak your feet in warm salt water to soothe the nerves. Good luck.

I've had a lot of friends who have had similar types of surgery done, and the numbness stayed until the toe was almost completely healed...
