I saw alot of people in another question loved it it's my all time favorite city too. Alot of shopping, great food and then all the old Japanese tradition. That's my favorite place to get lost, one of the best memories of my life was walking around the geisha distict with my friends we didn't have a clue where we were but it was so much fun!

Me too. Been there a dozen times by night bus, shinkansen, and local train. My favorite spots are kinkakuji and ginkakuji, gion and pontocho, kurama. Some great festivals there too - Gion Matsuri, Jidai Matsuri, and Mt. Kurama's Fire Festival
