Lose an argument. Conserve your energy for better use.

There are two possible ways to "win when you're wrong". Either you are knowingly being stubborn (but don't really honestly believe what you're arguing), or you honestly believe what you say, but are just wrong. These are two very different things.

If you are knowingly being stubborn, it isn't satisfying. It seems far preferable to "lose when you're right", because then at least you can do the morally superior victory dance in your head. Otherwise, it gradually sinks in that you were just being stubborn, and the guilt sets in. Most likely the truth will surface and your "opponent" will realize that you're a fraud; so you won't really have "won" after all.

On the other hand, if you honestly believe (but are wrong), then you can eventually come to realize your mistake and go back to apologize or make corrections ...Then everybody wins!

However, if you honestly believe (but are wrong), and furthermore never come to realize your mistake, then there is a logical (actually, mathematical) reason to prefer "losing when you're right":

This is because the end result would be that there are 2 people in the world with wrong views (because you both agree, and both are wrong). From the point of view of "benefiting society", an outcome that generates greater ignorance in society is not good. Therefore it would be preferable to "lose when you're right", because then only one person (the other person) would be wrong, and less ignorance has been produced.

Better to have only one ignoramus than two.

I would rather lose an argument knowing I am right and letting the fool who would just rather win being wrong learn the truth in time.

lose knowing I am right. You aren't winning the war if you know you are wrong...just the battle. 9 times out of 10 the truth always wins in the end. Later on you will get called on it and look like an ***. The same goes for vice versa...

Lose an argument knowing I'm right. There is a peace and power in knowing you are right but not having to convert someone else to your way of thinking. Makes you a better person.

It depends on your concept of winning. What do I gain if I win, What do I gain if I lose. The other side of those questions is what do I lose if I win/lose. If winning a small argument makes your wife happy enough to overlook some egregious act of yours would you be driven to win that argument? Not if you have two brain cells still on speaking terms!

Winning is NOT everything!!

Sometimes, it is the fun of getting there......win or lose.
I would definitely not want to win, knowing I was wrong! What would be the point in the long run of things.....none!

If you are so interested in a debate, then you had better get your facts right to start with. Sticking to the "truth", is a lot easier to remember, and prove. No contest!!

we should always learn moral values....winning an arguement knowing u r wrong is not morally correct....when we know we r wrong then there is no need of argument....And we should know and learn this thing that the most brave person is the one who accepts his mistakes....winning an arguement is not a big deal.
Similarly...losing an argument knowing u r right is not good but if we do lose we should believe in Allah(God) that he is there to reward us....
Always take arguments positive ...never have grudge against anyone....Remember ! we cannot change the world but only change ourselves which is itself a big achievement...
hope u are satisfied with the answer.

If I knew I was right, I would not lose the argument ! I would continue the `discussion` until I had convinced my adversary. I would not wish to win an argument if I knew I was wrong, that would amount to ignorance.

Winning has the connotation of being right, so I would rather win. Put this scenario in court, it's a matter of life and death for some, so I would rather win and be wrong than lose and be right.
