Hi, I am 29, 5-3", 130lbs
I recently was pregant (April-July2006), but had to have a D&C due to a missed-miscarriage.

I was told to wait 1 cycle, (Aug 19th). I was very ill during that time, & decided to wait. (lamb skin condoms)

So to now, I am normally on a 28-30 day cycle, and this time I was late by a week & 1/2. But I started on Tuesday, Sept 26th. I had lots of cramping. So bad I needed IBprofin, and a heating pad to sleep (one dose a day) only at night.

So last night, I was using the restroom at 5:30pm, and something unnormal popped out/came out/expelled from within.

It was not a blood clot. This was pinkish-grey, it looked like a walnut, or a brain, like muscle tissue. Now I'm changing pads every 3 hours, and more cramps. It freaking me out.

I called my OBYGN's on call nurse who said "Its a blood clot & not to worry". Well being smart I saved it. I took it to my doc today, they will be doing tests on it.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Help me!

Sounds like you just experienced an early, spontaneous miscarriage. By the info you provided, you must have been about 5-to-5 1/2 weeks along [or 3-to-3 1/2 weeks of embryonic gestational age]. At this stage, the gestational sac and rudimentary placenta would be just as you described in appearance and color, about the size of a grape. Inside, the tiny embryo would've been barely visible to the naked eye, about the size and shape of a comma. The doctor will most likely send the specimen to a pathological laboratory, where a Pathologist will make a microscopic analysis of the tissues and either confirm or rule out a miscarriage. In the meantime, if pain persists and is not relieved by OTC medications, bleeding becomes heavier [you soak more than a regular sanitary pad every hour], you develop a fever or experience chills, or there is any kind of foul-smelling discharge coming out of your vagina, don't wait. Go to an emergency room STAT and ask that your Gynecologist be contacted; these are common signs of an incomplete miscarriage [meaning that some gestational tissue is still inside your uterus, and it will have to be removed by means of a D&C; you might also need to be treated with antibiotics to prevent complications due to infection]. Hope that everything turns out for the best and that my advice has been of help and comfort to you. Feel free to contact me using the link provided in my profile if you need more information or have further questions. Blessings, sweetie.

Well, I could be wrong, but this sounds like a miscarriage. All women experience miscarriages in different ways, but severe cramping, heavy bleeding, and the grayish "muscle-like" tissue that was expelled all sound like common symptoms of a miscarriage. I hope I helped.

Unfortunately, it's not. If you are 9 weeks pregnant and are having heavy bleeding and cramping, you need to call the doctor or go to the emergency room right away. Sounds like you are exhibiting classic signs of a miscarriage. If you are, I am truly sorry for your loss. But I wish you the best of luck. Either way, call the doctor right away. Its that important.

Yes, this happened to me. At the time, I didn't know what it was, but I did have extreme cramps and bleeding two days later when all of the waste was expelled. It was a miscarriage.

It sounds like a miscarriage to me as well. Blood clots are usually dark red. Heavy bleeding does follow a miscarriage and you don't necessarily have to have severe cramps...I didn't..

It could be either tissue left from the miscarriage or you had another miscarriage. You were right to save the tissue and go to your doctor immediately.
