yea AFI is a really good band, but my favorite EMO band would have to be Blink 182. Then following up iz Fallout Boy and Panic! At the Disco.

You should check out a couple slightly older bands that were emo before "emo" was a widely used term:
The Promise Ring
and
The Smoking Popes
I'm not sure whether Death Cab for Cutie is considered emo, but I'd recommend them as well.

AFI is a wicked band but i also like Behind Crimson Eyes,Butterfly effect ,Repeat Offender and Panic @ the Disco
they are all awsome LAST NIGHT I SAW R.O AND BUTTERFLY EFFECT they are awsome check em out!!!!!!

I can't pick just one my favorite ones are my chemical romance, the used, panic! at the disco,fall out boy and green day.

as someone who listens to just about every kind of music, i would have to say that emo music is some of the crappiest music i've ever heard... seriously.
there are some exceptions... like secondhand serenade or weezer, but honestly, emo sucks
