What do you mean by? Well, initially, the researcher has to decide how to go about finding a potential drug. Once this potential compound is found or synthesized, the researcher will react it with what they want it to act with. Most of the time, nothing happens. If something happens, more research will be done to refine the lead. Afterwards, animal studies will be completed. If successful, they can get permission from the FDA to start human trials. There are three stages: one, two, and three. From beginning with the synthesis to FDA approval, less than 1% of potential drugs will make it.
