Hi,
The cord that runs from the power adapter (a universal, not original) to my Compaque Pressario laptop is getting loose all the time where it connects to the laptop. Can anyone give me advice on how I can make it stay in the opening?

How much would such a procedure at RadioShack (and/or the new plug) cost?

Great question and a common problem as well. The more you use that cable, the more it wobbles around. Fortunately, there's a very simple solution. Take the Laptop and the AC Adapter along with the plug to your local Radio Shack Store and ask them to fix you up witha smaller plug that will fit tighter. The store will have several different plugs that can be soldered onto the end of the cable by simply cutting the old one off. Hope this helps, Larry (RadioShack 019590)

I had the same problem on my laptop. For a while I used tape to keep it in place. When I got fed up of that, I used a tiny screwdriver to bend the metal connector inside the port so make the fit tighter.

Of course, I'm not reccommending that you go sticking a screwdriver into your power port as its generally not a good idea.

I had that same problem with my Toshiba SK9. Returned it without telling them....I know I'm horrible. If you're over your store return date, talk to the support guys see if they can replace it. If it's the hole that's too big or crooked or both, it's kind of hard to deal with. If it's the adaptor, just replace it.
