Um long front claws in a RES means its a male. And yes if overly long (a Herp Vet needs to determine this!!!!) you should take them to a vet for clipping. Please do not attempt this yourself if you don't know what your doing. To find a Herp Vet in your area try these links. http://www.nytts.org/nytts/helpnet.htm

Yes, use a pair of cat nail clippers. I used to manage a pet shop and I used to cut nails of all animals. However the ones with long nails are females and they need their nails for digging if you plan on breeding them leave them alone until after she lays eggs.

Get a cotton ball and placed styptic powder on it. This has antiseptic traits and can help you end the bleeding. it truly is the safest element to apply to end the bleeding for a turtle. it could be sturdy to have a vet examine out it contained in the subsequent few days and that can help you you identify for next time the suitable techniques to apply and the way short to cut back them.

No. Male Red-ears have long front nails that they need for the courtship ritual.
This question makes me wonder if you might not benefit from some other good care advice.

i never knew they had nails, well i did but not that they grow, well i think u should, but incase, just bring them to an expert, so u don't cut off a piece of it finger, u should rahter pay a couple bucks to cut the nail than by doing ur self and ur turtle to lose hte tip of it nails finger

It's heathy to cut their nails but I think you should leave that to a vet.
