A tip is something given to you for doing good work and doing your job and a bribe is something that you did not deserve and that you are not really working for.

I'm not sure of the origins of a gratuity (tip). A tip is a monetary amount given to someone for well performed services. A bribe is an offering of money (usually) to someone to do something they ordinarily would not do - and the person offering the bribe wouldn't be caught dead doing the deed.

The difference is whether or not the police are watching, if they are its a tip, if not, screw it its a bribe. Seriously though why tip? after all everyone you tip is already being paid to do that job, if their performance at that job is so great an employer should pay accordingly. Sure i tip if a person goes outside of their set duties to please me and I tip quite well thank you, but if they are just doing their job, forget about it.

A "tip" is a monetary thank-you for a service provided in an exceptional manner. A "bribe" is an exchange made in advance of an exchange or provision of service. Example of a bribe: "I will do A if you will do B". If A, then B.

A tip is a reward for good service. It is usually 15 to 20 percent of the bill before taxes. A bribe is to procure goods or services, and is proferred and accepted before the act.

A grease charge is a (often small) charge to acquire something to which you're entitled. A chop on your passport to illustrate. A bribe is to exert undue effect to acquire something to which you at the instant are not entitled. The award of a freelance to illustrate.
