Did you get a program disk that came with your IPod because you have to install a driver in your computer for the IPod to be recognized by your computer. If your IPod didnt come with a disk to load the driver go to the IPod website and download a driver or find out from them how to access driver software.

From the the Start menu, choose Run.
In the Open field, type services.msc.
Click OK.
The Services browser will open and display a list of all of the background services installed on your computer.
Scroll down to Terminal Services.
Double-click Terminal Services to view its properties.
From the Startup type pop-up menu, choose Manual.
Click Apply and then click OK.
Restart your computer.
After your computer has restarted, the service "Terminal Services" will be running. When you reconnect your iPod and open iTunes, your iPod should be recognized.

Your first step is to load the itunes software, if you have not done so already. If you have a PC with windows, it has to be XP or itunes will not work. Assuming that you have windows XP and the software loaded, you simply click on "file" and "update my ipod". If you don't have Windows XP, you have to have a friend do it for you. The thing is... if your friend does it, you can never use your own computer with your ipod. Good luck and don't steal music. Musicians deserve to be paid for their art.

A) install the software for the iPod onto your computer
B) toggle your Hold button back and forth, it may be jammed internally, this will essentially wake it back up
C) test it with just your headphones to make sure it is playing properly
D) go to www.apple.com for instructions on resetting your iPod, I think it has something to do with holding down the center button and pushing a different one simultaneously, but I can't remember off the top of my head...
Good luck!

Check to see if the plug for your UBS cord is working. Then restart your computer and try it all over again. Plug the UBS cord into as many sockets as you can to see if it's the sockets that are not working.
