I would think that she is feeling insecure about her body figure. I would talk to her and give her advice. Tell her all the bad things about being anorexic. Boost her self-esteem. She could be feeling down because of all the "Hot bodies" out there seen in magazines, tv. etc., and she may feel like she is not good enough.
if I knew this person, I mean I wouldn't look away and not care anymore, and feel that she is stupid or whatever, but I would start to be more worried and show concern for the person.

The only different thing i would feel is concern...Weird thing i just got told a couple of hours ago that a friend/close enough to call her family is anorexic, and i have been thinking about ways to help her...I wouldn't turn my back on her and she knows that we in our family love her to death...She is seeking treatment and i hope with all hope she makes it, shes about 5'7" and 80 pounds. She lives on the east coast, i on the west and i wish we were closer, heck i would have noticed this long before she got diagnosed..... :( ....

Of course i wouldn't think differently about that person...if they are my friend, better yet if I'm there friend i would do everything i could to get her some help. There are a number of reasons why a person becomes anorexic..and ridiculing them is not going to help them get through it.

what's the thing with being anorexic?why should you think different about someone who becomes anorexic?that's not your problem in first place,it's theirs.only the close-minded folks change their attitudes toward people on stuff like this.that person is same person as it was before it turned anorexic.and you know what?better anorexic than fat!lol

I think they need professional help because they have a distorted body image and low self esteem. As their friend, you can be instrumental in getting her the help she needs by talking with her, her parents and siblings. This is a dangerous, life-threatening illness that needs treatment.

someone whos anorexic needs professional help.
take it from someone who KNOWS.
you cant help her - trust me. unless shes just in a fase and then all it takes a nice piece of cake.
but if shes truly truly anorexic....you cant do anything about that except tell someone who can get her help.

I would try to make them understand that what they are doing is dangerous and try to get them some help but I wouldn't thimk differently about them. If it was my girlfriend I would still love her and I would do anything I could to help her.
